CUBA – Toronto’s Sherritt International Corp. has provided an update on its Moa joint venture nickel project following hurricane Matthew earlier this month. The category 4 storm made landfall and swept across the eastern part late on Oct.3 and remained in the area all the following day, departing the night of Oct. 5. Operations underwent a staged shut down as the storm approached, but they have now fully resumed. Production was impacted by the shutdown and by delayed shipments when carriers could not dock safely at the Moa port. Sherritt said, however the current full year guidance of 33,500 to 34,500 tonnes of finished nickel remains unchanged. Information about the Moa project is posted at www.Sherritt.com.
