As summer draws to a close, CMJ is again preparing the next edition of the Mining Sourcebook. For over 100 years this publication has been the reference for operating data from Canada's mineral producers.

We rely on volunteers from the mining companies to complete our questionnaire and thank the hundreds who have provided data in the past. We are well aware that they have spent hours and hours collecting minutiae to fill in the hundreds of blanks on the forms.

But no more!

This year the questionnaire has been streamlined so that it can be completed in less than 30 minutes by anyone familiar with the operation. That person could be your COO or VP operations or the general manager at the site. No more is it necessary to chase down people in dozens of departments to complete the questionnaire.

The questionnaire is being sent to head offices of all companies with producers in Canada. Some of our readers may already have been contacted. We urge you to reply so that the Mining Sourcebook will once again be the first place to look when readers want to know what is going on at specific locations. The more operations that respond, the more useful the book will be.

If there are volunteers who are willing to spend a few minutes with the new form, please contact me by phone at 613-832-9087 or email at MScales@CanadianMiningJournal.com.

Draw for prizes: We are going to enter the names of individuals who complete the Sourcebook questionnaire in a draw. Two of them will win $100 Petro Canada gift certificates. Let us know who you are.
