OTTAWA – Natural Resources Canada has issued the 2009-15 performance report for the National Orphaned and Abandoned Mines Initiative. NOAMI was created in 2001 to build a national database of abandoned mines, gather community perspectives, set standards, examine ownership and liability issues; and develop funding models.

This, the organization’s second performance report, covers the years 2009 to 2015. It describes the current state of orphaned and abandoned mines in Canada, and it highlights NOAMI’s achievements and those of its member jurisdictions.

The 16-page report can be downloaded from NOAMI Performance Update 2009-2015
