CASPEO, a provider of mining software and consulting services, has announced that its INVENTEO metallurgical accounting solution, now features data analytics tools.

Metal accounting aims to get the most complete and accurate picture of the performance of a plant to guide decision making by combining financial challenges with technical issues. Metallurgical accounting systems enhance production and inventory data along the mining value chain. However, collecting and aggregating data from various sources is often an insufficient metal accounting system.

CASPEO considers the starting point of a true metallurgical accounting system to be a precise understanding of process operations, based on sampling and measurements. Over the past 15 years, the company has developed the INVENTEO solution, intended to help plant management to switch to an efficient metal accounting system that helps move the mining and metals industry to the next level of digitalization. Designed for mining, mineral processing, hydrometallurgy, smelting, and refining operations, INVENTEO is a unique offering.

“The application of the AMIRA code P754 that fixes best practices for implementing reliable metal accounting systems is not only linked to the use of a given software package, whatever qualities it may get or functionalities it may provide”, Marie-Véronique Durance, CASPEO co-managing director, said in a release. “That is why we offer, in addition to software, the associated expertise on sampling and measurement which enables the client to be guided towards good practices and to optimize internal processes.”

INVENTEO is an off-the-shelf solution for metallurgical accounting, requiring no specific development, only configuration. Thanks to the transparency about the calculation methods (required by the AMIRA code), as well as training and mentoring, teams are able to be responsive to any process changes and integrate modifications without being dependent on a supplier.

Business intelligence, the step forward

All generated data – basis data and reconciled data – is stored in the INVENTEO database with intermediate calculations allowing auditing and reports are generated from this data. INVENTEO delivers quantitative and qualitative metal balances for all streams, metallurgical inventories and works in progress.

CASPEO has also augmented the reporting part of its metallurgical accounting software by adding business intelligence features. To turn data into insights, a system has been developed that makes it possible to directly query the INVENTEO database and create visual reports. INVENTEO encourages sharing of information, while maintaining the levels of privacy and security that are needed. Thanks to this feature, it can be now interfaced with business or operational intelligence solutions. CEAPEO also facilitates the implementation of Extract Transform and Load (ETL) processes, to integrate the data output into larger data warehouses and make it available for business analysis at a wider scale.

INVENTEO also allows the generation of custom reports in addition to fixed period ones and provides stakeholders with timely insights to allow them to monitor and assess an operational situation. INVENTEO is intended to allow its users to make faster and better decisions.

 Leverage algorithms to improve data

Traditional metal accounting platforms automatically acquire data from existing databases to create a single basis for managing the metallurgical balance. True metal accounting systems, such as INVENTEO, also improve the quality of the data quality through data reconciliation algorithms.

“INVENTEO’s embedded algorithm allows obtaining consistent material balance from raw data, improving the accuracy of data by a statistical distribution of measurement errors based on maximum of probability, and allowing data quality checking”, added Stéphane Brochot, CASPEO co-managing director. “Measurement and sampling errors are associated with all material flows and stocks in the plant: products, raw materials, utilities, reagent and effluents.”

INVENTEO ensures traceability and workflow compliance with AMIRA best practices. The data reconciliation is based on measurement error and includes tolerances about acceptable imbalances. INVENTEO allows its users to define a range of expected values and generates warning when outside of it.

Software publisher CASPEO provides process simulation software and services to processing plants, engineering offices, R&D centres and universities. The company also offers engineering consulting services and training courses worldwide.
