Tenaris announced the acquisition of AllTorque's oilfield division, an original equipment manufacturer known for tubular running technology. The move builds on an existing partnership and enhances Tenaris's WISer technologies for Rig Direct customers while expanding the company's Canadian industrial presence.
AllTorque operates from Red Deer, Alberta, where the company has developed innovations for nearly 30 years. The business began as AllWeigh Scale Systems before evolving into a North American leader in torque-turn monitoring systems that address industry demand for precision tools on rig floors.
The company launched its torque-turn monitoring service in 2022. The service has supported the running of 23.5 million metres of OCTG across more than 5,000 jobs in North America, South America and Europe.
"This acquisition marks another important step in Tenaris's ongoing commitment to Canada and further extends our differentiation as the country's leading OCTG manufacturer, especially in areas requiring seamless products and proprietary connections, and where our Rig Direct services are provided," Martín Castro, Tenaris president in Canada, said. "Over the past 25 years we have developed an unmatched industrial footprint combining seamless and welded pipe manufacturing, TenarisShawcor coating facilities, service centres near customer operations, and an R&D centre in Toronto. We are glad to continue expanding the scope of our services with AllTorque."
The company runs three service centres in Edmonton, Grande Prairie and Fort St. John, British Columbia. Tenaris also operates four additional Alberta facilities that specialize in OCTG accessories, coating and pipe threading, along with a commercial office in Calgary and an R&D centre in Toronto.
