Sandvik has announced plans to build a new logistics hub at its factory for load-and-haul underground mining equipment in Turku, Finland. The new hub is aimed at improving customer service, material flow and delivery times.

“Efficient logistics is a key part of customer value,” Wayne Scrivens, the president of load-and-haul at Sandvik, said. “This investment is another step in strengthening our operational platform in Finland and ensuring that Sandvik remains a trusted partner for mining customers globally.”

The company said the new hub will bring logistics operations closer to its production centre, replacing some current operations located roughly 13 kilometres from the Turku factory. In addition to accelerating material flows, Sandvik said this development will contribute to a safer working environment by reducing unnecessary transport, handling and movement between separate locations.

Sandvik said the new logistics hub builds upon recent investments in the factory’s underground equipment selection, electrification and digitization. Construction is planned to proceed in phases, with ramp‑up expected after system installation in Sept. 2027.
