YUKON – Copper North Mining Corp. of Vancouver and the Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation (LSCFN) have signed a letter of intent with respect to consultation on the Carmacks copper project 200 km north of Whitehorse. The project is located in the LSCFN territory and the consultation will allow the First Nation to fully understand the project and how it will interact with their traditional land uses.

Copper North will commit to consult with LSCFN before submitting a project proposal to the government. The company will also provide financial support to the First Nation so that it can retain independent technical advice in respect to the project. The current agreement also defines communications protocols between the parties and provides for the negotiation of an impact benefits agreement.

The Carmacks copper project carries an initial capital cost of $177.6 million. It has proven and probable reserves of 11.55 million tonnes grading 0.977% Cu.
