Mining technology company Hivekit has announced its new OPS.AI technology, a tool designed to identify bottlenecks and answer questions in mining operations.

Hivekit says the artificial intelligence (AI) platform generates suggested steps to help companies to overcome job site challenges while taking into account operational factors — like performance metrics or maintenance data — that could influence decision-making.

“Mine plans are built around assumptions about equipment, people, infrastructure and conditions, but the reality underground or in the pit changes constantly,” said Wolfram Hempel, Hivekit’s CEO. “OPS.AI continuously reconciles what was supposed to happen with what is actually happening and helps the operation determine what should happen next.”

Despite being designed to offload problem-solving tasks to AI, Hivekit says human supervisors remain in control. OPS.AI’s process uses multiple checkpoint layers to “offset the inherent uncertainty of AI systems,” the company said. After proposing a plan, the AI validates it with a set of rules and constraints, before delivering it to supervisors for final approval.

The platform is currently available through the wider Hivekit platform.
