GEMCOM SOFTWARE INTERNATIONAL of Vancouver has selected Omid Ejtemai as its chief technology officer. He will apply his advanced expertise in IT, product management, professional services and particularly, his expertise in CRM and ERP deployment, to enable Gemcom to enhance its market position as a provider of mine production management solutions.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2004, BARRICK GOLD is reorganizing itself and has announced the following key personnel changes. Peter Kinver will become COO, succeeding John Carrington, who will remain vice-chairman; Greg Lang will leave behind his Australian duties to become VP of North America; Steve Orr becomes VP for Australia and Africa; Igor Gonzales becomes VP for Peruvian operations; Ray Threlkeld moves from VP of project development to VP for Chile and Argentina; and in the Toronto head office Rene Marion will be named VP technical services and John Turney VP capital projects.

WARDROP welcomes Ian Pritchard as its new VP of mining. He also serves as vice-chairman of Mining Innovation, Rehabilitation & Applied Research Corp. (MIRARCO). His 20 years of experience will be valuable in project management for both underground and pit development and construction.

Andrew Chater, a professional geologist, has joined the board of MacDONALD MINES EXPLORATION. He brings significant experience in Europe, Africa and the James Bay Lowlands (where the company is exploring for gold in the Attawapiskat Greenstone Belt) to the table.

Edward L. Mercaldo has been promoted to senior advisor for financial and strategic advice at DIAMOND FIELDS INTERNATIONAL of Vancouver. He was formerly the company's CFO and a director.

Todd Bruce is the new president and CEO of CRYSTALLEX INTERNATIONAL and becomes a board member. He has considerable gold mining expertise including his recent responsibilities as president and CEO of IamGold. Marc J. Oppenheimer has stepped down from the president and CEO positions to become vice-chairman of Crystallex and continues to play an important role in the development of the company's projects in Venezuela.

GOLDEYE EXPLORATIONS has elected John Harvey to its board of directors. He became well-known in the Canadian mineral industry during his time as VP of exploration at Noranda.

Hilbert Shields, previously of Golden Star Resources, has joined Vancouver-based SENNEN RESOURCES as executive VP and a director.

GOLDEN STAR RESOURCES of Denver, Colo., announced that Bruce Higson-Smith is joining the company as VP of corporate development. The company also released news that it has been included in the S&P/TSX Composite Index as of last week.

DEFIANCE MINING has added Sir Sam Jonah of Ashanti Goldfields and George Salamis of Caledon Resources to its board of directors. Defiance is a Toronto-based company.

George Coburn is now CEO (as well a co-founder and president) of STROUD RESOURCES in Toronto. Former CEO and chairman Alistair Brown has resigned.

Vancouver-based CORRIENTE RESOURCES has named Anthony Holler, who is also CEO of ID Biomedical Corp., to its board. He replaces Catherine McLeod-Seltzer who has stepped down.
