Sayona Mining (ASX:SYA; OTC:SYAXF) has moved the restart of its North American lithium (NAL) project nearer to the planned first quarter of 2023. Its subsidiary, Sayona Quebec, has successfully fed 400 tonnes of spodumene ore through the crushing plant.
The crushing plant includes a primary jaw crusher, secondary and tertiary crushers as well as conveying equipment. Automation, electrical and mechanical components were tested and performed as designed.
“Congratulations to our team at NAL for achieving another significant milestone as we advance the NAL restart closer to first production,” said managing director Brett Lynch. “Our key project milestones are on track and I look forward to seeing the first saleable lithium concentrate at the plant.”
The engineering and construction for the concentrator was 90% complete at the end of December 2022. All critical equipment and the necessary environmental approvals have been received.
The NAL project is situated in La Corne township in Quebec’s Abitibi-Temiscamingue region, about 60 km north of the town of Val d’Or.
Sayona says 90% of its NAL workforce come from the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region, 33% are women, and more than $40 million has been invested in local suppliers.
