Metso haws formally opened its new service centre in Prince George, B.C., to offer faster service to mines across western Canada.

Justin Ayotte, the vice-president of Canadian sales and services at Metso, said the facility is essential to supporting customers at a time when rising metal prices are piling additional pressure and unpredictability onto mines. “With this new service centre, we are ready to serve our customers with strong local support and expertise,” he said.

The new facility offers advanced diagnostics, component repairs and upgrades to Metso machinery deployed in the region. In bringing operations to B.C., the company said it aims to reduce turnaround times, increase safety and provide more-responsive technical support.

Metso said the inauguration builds upon the recent opening of its new service and training centre in Mesa, Arizona. The investments are part of a broader expansion across North America, including in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Irapuato, Mexico.

Metso is a Finnish industrial manufacturer offering services for aggregates, mineral processing and metal refining industries worldwide.
